Nour El Tayeb is back playing the brand of squash that took her to world number three.
The ‘Black Widow’ demolished everyone in her path at last month’s Tournament of Champions before losing out to eventual champion Nour El Sherbini in a tight, five-game quarter-final encounter.
El Tayeb returned to the tour in December 2021 following the arrival of her daughter, Farida, in July of that year, and has already risen back up to world number six.
The Egyptian was playing some sublime squash in her first two matches of the ToC, demonstrating incredible movement around the court.
The now 18-months-old Farida was with El Tayeb at the New York tournament.
Following her third round victory against Sabrina Sobhy, El Tayeb opened up on juggling squash with motherhood.
“My partner now is my daughter, not my husband [fellow squash pro Ali Farag]. She’s the one who keeps me up at night and keeps me fit,” El Tayeb said.
“She’s here with me for the first time and my first goal was to reach the quarter-finals. My body’s feeling good. I’m getting better sleep every day. I’m living my dream now as a mother, and will keep taking it in.”
